Aveiro Urban Challenges

In Aveiro we care about urban contemporary issues affecting our community. Within this scope, in partnership with some of Aveiro STEAM City stakeholders - Galp Gás Natural Distribuição, EDP Distribuição, Veolia, Transdev e Águas da Região de Aveiro – the first edition of Aveiro Urban Challenges have supported the development of solutions and ideas to address 5 urban challenges. This programme will focus in startups, scaleups and R&D institutions awarding the 5 finalists with 20.000,00€ each.

Aveiro Urban Challenges is back for the second Edition.
Apply until March 28, 2021.

Aiming startups, scaleups and R&D centres, the 2nd edition for Aveiro Urban Challenges will award the best ideas and solutions to resolve urban issues. In partnership with Beta-i, a benchmark company for acceleration and mentorship programmes, the City of Aveiro will host in 2021 five finalists in the programme which contains development and tests phase, accesses to workshops and a network of mentors and specialists from the various stakeholders of the programme. Prizes go up to 20.000,00€ for each winner.

The 2nd edition of Aveiro Urban Challenges will be implemented with the following timeline:

• 11^th January to 28^th of March 2021: Application submission period.
• 29^th March to 13^th April 2021: Selection period.
• 14^th April 2021: Announcement of 25 projects to participate in Aveiro Tech City Pitch.
• 23rd of April 2021: Aveiro Tech City Pitch.
• 28^th of April 2021: Kick-off Event.
• 28^th of April to 30^th of September 2021: Development and trial stage.
• 24^th to 26^th of May 2021: Training Sessions.
• 9^th of August 2021: Progress Report delivery.
• 11^th to 17^th of October 2021: Demodays @ Aveiro Tech Week 2021.
• 14^th of October 2021: Pitch Training.
• 15^th of October 2021: Final Pitch.
