Technology, Arts and Culture Week

From the 7th to the 13th of October, the city of Aveiro will host various events integrated in the Technology, Arts and Culture Week.

Criatech will bring digital and technological creativity to the city with the presentation of dozens of interactive artistic pieces and installations, connecting digital arts and technology in public spaces and buildings. The event is free and can be found in a diversity of places, such as Teatro Aveirense, Museum of Arte Nova, City Museum, Mãe de Água, Church of Carmelitas the Museum of Santa Joana. The selected projects and installations will occupy a variety of spaces giving a different visual, experimental and artistic dimension and visitors can not only contemplate these projects but also interact with them as an actor of the installation itself.

Prisma festival will occur on the 11th and 12th of October presenting different actions with light as the main element. The Marquês de Pombal square, the Infante D. Pedro park, the Baixa de Santo António, Praça da República and the Central Canal will host different light installations of contemporary art tailored to the City, always during nigh time from 19h20 to 00h00.  In this festival, the local artistic and creative scene will also be engaged with the demonstrations of different performances, from artistic installations to a music and digital sketches.

The objective of Prisma festival / Art Light Tech is the rediscovering of the city by the audience, with the presentation of installations emotionally connected to the territory, an approach to bring closer the local community and to promote its participation.

Finally, the 5th edition of Techdays will happen between 10th and 12th of October in the Exhibition Centre of Aveiro. This event will be the first in Portugal to be covered with 5G communications and will host 5G technology prototypes thanks to a joint effort between Altice Labs, Ericsson and City of Aveiro. In this way the City of Aveiro continuous its work in the affirmation process of Aveiro as one of the firsts 5G cities in the country and in the Southern Europe. This year’s evet will focus on technological innovations to improve our day-to-day through conferences, exhibitions, B2B meetings, educational activities and showcases.
