Aveiro 5G Challenges

In partnership with Altice Labs, Telecomunications Institute and the University of Aveiro, the city of Aveiro offers a Living Lab that includes, among other features, an experimental 5G network, assuming itself as one of the few 5G trial Cities in Europe.

Aveiro 5G Challenges will award new solutions and products using 5G technology. In Aveiro testbed, startups, scaleups and R&D centres will be able to develop and work innovative solutions, with technical support and mentoring sessions.

The three winners of each edition will be awarded with 25.000,00€ each and the remaining finalists will have financial support of 2.000,00€. 

Aveiro 5G Challenges is back for the second Edition.

Targeting startups, scaleups and R&D institutions, the 2nd edition of Aveiro 5G Challenges will award the best ideas and solutions in the area of 5G. In partnership with Beta-i, a benchmark company for acceleration and mentorship programmes, and sustained by a 5G ecosystem developed by our technological partners Altice Labs ad Ericsson, the City of Aveiro will host in 2021 ten finalists in the programme which contains development and test phase, access to workshops and a network of mentors and specialists from various areas, in addition to the opportunity to use Aveiro 5G network.

The second edition of Aveiro 5G will be implemented with the following timeline:

• 21^st January to 28^th March 2021: Application submission period and technical clarification. 
• 29^th March to 13^th April 2021: Selection of applications period.  
• 14^th April 2021: Finalists announcement.
• 28^th April 2021: Kick-off event.
• 28^th April to 30^th September 2021:Development and trial stage.
• 17^th to 26^th May 2021: Training and Mentoring.
• 9^th August 2021: Progress report delivery.
• 14^th October 2021: Pitch Training.
• 15^th October 2021: Final Pitch and 3 winners’ announcement.
• 11^th to 17^th October 2021: Demodays @ Aveiro Tech Week 2021.
