Winners of the 2nd Edition

Allbesmart, Cycle AI and Infinite Foundry are the three winners of the 2nd edition of Aveiro 5G Challenges.

Announced after the Final Pitch, during Aveiro Tech Week, the three Portuguese startups took home a prize of 25.000,00€ each.

- Allbesmart_LDA - IoT and 5G connectivity, vehicular communication in the mobility area;

- CycleAI - Security models through Artificial Intelligence and 5G in the protection of cyclists;

- Infinite Foundry - 5G in the digital three-dimensional modelling of the city.

Aveiro City Hall, in the scope of the Aveiro Tech City project, launched the "Aveiro 5G Challenges" in partnership with Altice Labs, and aims to reward new solutions and products supported by 5G technology, allowing candidates to use the 5G infrastructure installed in the living lab of Aveiro city, to develop and scale their solutions, through technical monitoring to which are added training and mentoring sessions promoted by Beta-i. The technical monitoring is ensured by the technological partners of the activity, Altice Labs and Ericsson.

We remind you that in this 2nd edition, a total of 29 applications were received from all over the world, with India and Kenya being the most prominent. The ten most disruptive projects in the 5G area were selected and went on to the semi-final phase, half of them are Portuguese and the others are from Germany, Belgium, Croatia and the United States of America.

The Final Pitch took place on 15 October, after which the jury decided on the three winners of the Final Award. The remaining competitors received financial support for their projects, in the amount of 2.000€.

The Aveiro STEAM City project is co-financed by the Regional Development Fund - ERDF, through the Urban Innovative Actions programme. Its overall investment is 6,115,915 euros, with ERDF support of 4,892,732 euros.
