TECH LABS INAUGURATION

On February 5th, the EB 1 School of Sarrazola, in Cacia, hosted the inauguration of a technological laboratory. This inaugural moment celebrates the installation of Tech Labs in 31 schools of basic education in the Municipality of Aveiro, lead by the City Council (CMA), within the scope of the Aveiro Tech City initiative.

Tech Labs is an activity to implement technological laboratories in the 31 schools of the 1st cycle, followed by a training program deseigned for all teachers at that level of education. Among other elements, the laboratories will be equipped with a 3D printer, robotics kits, electrical circuit kits and computers.

This action is part of an integrated strategy of the Aveiro City Council to promote STEAM skills at all levels of basic and secondary education.

What are Tech Labs?

The implementation of Tech Labs in primary schools has a strong component dedicated to experimental teaching to promote taste and learning for science and technology, using experimentation spaces to stimulate students' discovery and interest in these areas over the course of the year. its educational path, increases the mastery of STEAM competences in the educational community.

At the same time, this activity includes a training program for all teachers, developed by the University of Aveiro.

The tools and kits that are part of a Tech Lab allow you to explore countless possibilities of STEAM and robotics projects, such as exploring serial and parallel associations, as well as experimenting with electrical properties of different materials and also building a contraption that scribbles paper, using simple and reusable materials. In this activity it is possible, with the help of electrical circuits, to give free rein to the imagination and create work of art.
